A Damned Take on Women in Horror Films
The Guy’s Point of View!

In honor of Women in Horror Month 2017, I asked six male horror writers for their top-five favorite horror films staring strong leading ladies and why they loved them so much. So, without further ado…

Day 08 – Lee A. Forman:

Night of the Comet
Leading Lady: Catherine Mary Stewart

A comet wipes out most of life on Earth, leaving two Valley Girls to fight the evil types who survive.

Lee’s opinion:

“Night of the Comet speaks for itself. Take a high school cheerleader (Kelli Maroney) and her sister (Catherine Mary Stewart), trained in self-defense and automatic weapons, and put them in a post-apocalyptic Los Angeles, and you have yourself a combination of awesomeness and badassery. I loved this film for its combined elements of horror, science fiction, and all around fun. It’s considered a B-movie but I feel it’s grossly underrated.”

About Lee:

lee_a_formanLee A. Forman is a fiction writer from the Hudson Valley, NY. His fascination with the macabre began in childhood, watching old movies and reading everything he could get his hands on. He’s a third generation horror fanatic, starting with his grandfather who was a fan of the classic Hollywood Monsters. His work has been published in multiple horror magazines, anthologies, and podcasts. When he’s not crafting horrifying creatures and tales of terror, he spends his time editing, playing guitar and writing music.

Lee is an active member of the horror writer’s group Pen of the Damned.
